Because the Presbyterian Church (USA) is a confessing church; and
Because we want to be and remain faithful to our various confessions; and
Because we believe there is a crisis of confusion within the church over several vital areas of our confessional beliefs which threatens to split the church and to silence its faithful and effective witness in the world; and
Because we have each vowed to "further the peace, unity, and purity of the church" (G-14.0207g); and
Because we are committed to the PC(USA) and believe we are called to be instruments of renewal within our denomination;
We the Session of North Presbyterian Church join brothers and sisters throughout the PC(USA) in reaffirming our belief that:
We urge all Presbyterians who share these historic convictions to renew their individual commitments to these confessions.
We plead with all Presbyterians to examine their own convictions in light of the "confessions of our church as authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and do." (G-14.0207c).
We affirm the need to actively and honestly discuss and resolve the theological differences in our church in accordance with Biblical principles as interpreted by our confessions.
Glen Kinder, Clerk of Session
